Profile Back

BY REASON

Edited the profile, then suspended or asked to verify again

I changed my business details and Google suspended my profile or asked me to verify again. Why?

Google says a request to re-verify is likely because some business details were recently updated, and it may suspend profiles that do not follow its guidelines.

The rule: what Google says

Google's suspended-profiles page says it may suspend or disable Business Profiles that do not follow its guidelines. Google's verification page says that when you are asked for additional info to re-verify, it is likely because some business details were recently updated. Google's guidelines also say that unnecessary information in the business name is not permitted and could result in suspension.

How to tell if it applies to your profile

If the "Get verified" button reappears on your profile, Google says it could not completely verify your business. The fix it gives is to try to re-verify. If you asked for a postcard code, Google says editing the business name, address or category stops that code from working. Google also says an account restriction can follow a policy violation, and that the Business Profiles you manage are then suspended.

What to fix before you appeal

Google tells owners to make sure the profile follows all the guidelines before they submit an appeal. Name: the guidelines say it should reflect the business's real-world name, as used consistently on the storefront, website and stationery and as known to customers. Category: choose the fewest categories needed to describe the overall core business. Address: the guidelines say P.O. boxes, and mailboxes located at remote locations, aren't acceptable. A rented mailing address that the business doesn't operate out of, known as a virtual office, isn't eligible for a Business Profile. Evidence: check that the business name and address on any document you submit match the profile you are appealing for. Google says appeals can only be submitted once, and not to create a new Business Profile for the same business when you appeal.
