An official copy of your registration in Australia

Where do I get an official copy of my Australian business registration?

Get it from ASIC, the Australian Securities & Investments Commission, whose registers cover business names and companies; most information is free to see, and you can pay for extracts or, for companies, a certificate of registration.

The official register

ASIC, the Australian Securities & Investments Commission, runs registers that cover business names, companies and people it regulates. Its business names register is a searchable database of registered business names and the people or organisations that hold them. ASIC also maintains registers of Australian companies and several other types of organisations. If you want to search for a trading name, ASIC says to use the Australian business register's ABN Lookup service.

Getting an official copy

On ASIC's business names register, most information is free to see. If you need more than the free search gives, ASIC says you can pay for additional extracts of information. The paid extract options appear below the free information in the search results. For companies and some other organisations, ASIC says you can buy more information online, and it also appears below the free information. ASIC lists a certificate of registration for Australian companies at a fee of $23. ASIC says it cannot certify copies of registration certificates or register extracts.

Google's guidance on appeal evidence

Google says it may suspend or disable Business Profiles that don't follow its guidelines. In the appeals tool, Google says you can add optional evidence to support an eligible appeal. On bulk appeals, its page mentions supporting documentation such as business registration, license tax certificates, or utility bills. Google's tip is that for any documents you submit as evidence, the business name and address should match the profile you want to appeal for.
