No permanent signage at your address

Does my business address need a permanent sign for Google?

Yes, if your profile shows your business address, Google's guidelines say you should maintain permanent fixed signage of your business name at that address.

The rule: what Google says

Google's guidelines say that businesses showing their address on Google should "maintain permanent fixed signage of their business name at the address." Google says it may suspend or disable Business Profiles that don't follow its guidelines. Its guidelines page also says Google reserves the right to suspend access to Business Profiles for those who violate the guidelines.

How to tell if it applies to your profile

The signage rule is written for businesses that show their address on Google. Google also says a business without a storefront with clear signage that travels to customers at their physical locations is allowed one service-area Business Profile. Google says a service-area business should hide its business address from customers. An office in a co-working space can't be listed unless it maintains clear signage, receives customers at the location during business hours, and is staffed during business hours by your business staff. For co-located food brands offering pick-up, each must have permanent separate signage. A rented physical mailing address where the business doesn't operate, known as a virtual office, isn't eligible for a Business Profile.

What to fix before you appeal

Before you submit an appeal, Google tells you to make sure your profile follows all the guidelines. Create your Business Profile for your actual, real-world location. Represent your business as it is consistently represented and recognized in the real world across signage, stationery, and other branding. For documents you submit as evidence, check that the business name and address match the profile you are appealing. Google says appeals can only be submitted once, and it says not to create a new Business Profile for the same business.
