Delivery-only kitchens and virtual food brands

Can a delivery-only kitchen or virtual food brand have a Google profile?

Yes, Google's guidelines permit delivery-only kitchens and virtual food brands to have a business profile, but only with conditions.

The rule: what Google says

Google's guidelines page says virtual food brands are permitted with conditions. Delivery-only brands, meaning those operating out of virtual kitchens, are permitted if they have distinct branded packaging and a distinct website. They must add their service areas and hide the address on their business profile. Multiple virtual brands may operate out of one location, but they are subject to additional verification steps. Google may suspend or disable profiles that don't follow its guidelines, and an owner who believes a profile should be reinstated can submit an appeal.

How to tell if it applies to your profile

For brands sharing a kitchen, delivery-only brands with no pick-up option must hide their address and add service areas to that specific brand. Co-located food brands must each have permanent separate signage. When a food brand has authorized a virtual kitchen as a verified provider of its food, the virtual kitchen may manage each authorized brand's profile once the authorization is confirmed. The facility that houses delivery-only brands, such as Doordash Kitchens, may have its own separate business profile. A business should represent itself as it is consistently represented and recognized in the real world across signage, stationery and other branding.

What to fix before you appeal

Before you appeal, make sure the profile follows all the guidelines. Unnecessary information in a business name isn't permitted, and menu URLs can't be direct links to third-party ordering or delivery services. The phone number must be under the direct control of the business. For any documents you submit as evidence, the business name and address should match the profile being appealed. Do not create a new Business Profile for the same business, and keep in mind that appeals can only be submitted once.
